Actions developed within the framework of a culture for responsible
management of natural resources and mitigation of environmental impacts generated
by the operation and supported by the implementation of technologies that facilitate it.
The Valorem corporate building maintained the Leed Platinum certification, optimizing the use of energy and water, and carrying out an adequate separation and use of waste.
An environmental campaign was carried out for the purpose of sensitizing all employees to climate change and the importance of caring for the environment. This campaign had a special emphasis on waste management, teaching all employees how to improve their practices through the 5 R’s (Rethink, Reduce, Renew, Reuse, Recycle).
63% of the waste generated in the corporate offices was recovered. Organic waste was used to make compost for the gardens and inorganic waste was delivered to a partner company to carry out the recycling process.

Achievements
Between 2017 and 2018 there was a decrease in fuel and energy consumption factors. Scope 1 was reduced by 10.53% and scope 2 by 5.35% compared to the previous year.
The first tree planting was carried out, planting 81 native species in the Serranía del Majuy in the municipality of Tenjo, Cundinamarca. This initiative, in which 80 people participated, including employees and their families, seeks to contribute to the reduction of the carbon

The sixth version of the Caracol Televisión Environmental Protection Prize was held, rewarding the following organizations, for their commitment and management facing responsible care and use of or seas and rivers: Asoamaime in the community association category; Asociación Calidris in the NGO’s category; Progresar ESP in the small and medium-sized enterprises category and Isagen S.A. ESP in the large companies category.
Caracol Televisión’s outstanding initiative
The campaign “Change your footprint: separating waste” was implemented internally, whereby the characterization of waste was performed to define its adequate disposal and separation at source.
Achievements
A quadrant methodology was implemented to determine the type of organic and usable waste generated at Floresta Headquarters.
A code was designed to improve recycling and the general services staff was trained.
Measures were drawn up to reduce the amount of material that goes to the sanitary landfill.
Caracol Televisión challenges 2019 – 2020
To reduce usable waste currently going to the sanitary landfill.
To take measures for the reduction of the carbon footprint.
To strengthen the green logistics strategy in the Channel’s productions.

The recommendations for the measurement and reduction of the carbon footprint made by Green Sense, a company specialized in measurement and environmental education strategies to increase the value of brands, were materialized.
Achievements
The campaign was carried out on the efficient use of electricity, turning off lights and computers, sorting out waste and using ecologic means of transportation.
The plan to reconvert luminaires to LED was started (process is currently at 50%).
The renewal of computer equipment was implemented (phase two of three) which is expected to reduce energy consumption by 15% in 2019.
Complementarily, the policy for recycling computers was created through certified suppliers in the proper disposal of this equipment.

To implement improvement plans such as fuel optimization and planting trees to mitigate the carbon footprint
Savings in energy consumption: actions were taken to reduce energy consumption such as lights and folding automation, reaching a coverage of 54% of movie theaters. Likewise, the implementation of the automation of the dimerization of theaters in the Multiplex Viva Envigado and Andino began.
Cine Colombia hired an expert firm in eco-efficiency in order to objectively measure the environmental impact of the operations and the effectiveness of the measures that have been taken regarding water savings in recent years. The facilities have 100% sinks with saving systems.
98% of potties do not require water for its operation and 41% of the toilets operate with low discharge technology.
Consumption savings were achieved between 2017 and 2018 compared to 2016; 22,226 (11,3 %) and 24.330 (11,6 %) cubic meters of water, respectively.

Cine Colombia’s outstanding initiative
Cine Colombia implemented a recycling campaign aiming to contribute to environmental care, and to spread social and environmental messages to its clients.
Achievements
Through the campaign “Ecological Cineco”, the effective recycling of waste generated in theaters was promoted, seeking to sensitize employees, clients and suppliers on the importance of sorting waste at the source.
Nearly 333 tons were collected, 21% more compared to the 276 tons collected in 2017, with an increase in viewers of 11.4%.

To get clients to contribute to recycling in movie theaters every day.
To continue with programs that continue to allow constant water and energy savings in Multiplexes.
To implement recyclable and biodegradable materials in confectioneries and food businesses.
Permanent monitoring and recording of electricity and water consumption.
Creation of campaigns with employees facing the responsible use of resources.
Project with Energy Máster for the specialized management of public services focused on the attainment of savings and sustainability indicators.
Constant measurement of the efficiency in the use of fuel of light vehicles and trucks utilized for the distribution of products.
Implementation of the comprehensive management program of solid residues to adequately dispose of them and recycle and recuperate those that can restart their cycle. With this, it was possible to recycle more than 13.312.265 tons of material.
Tiendas D1’s outstanding initiative
The calculation of the carbon footprint scopes I and II was made for each regional office for the years 2027 and 2018 resulting in:
* The 8% increase, corresponding to 4,723.79 CO2 - e tons, is due to the expansion in the number of stores and to the rise in sales nationwide.

To continue with the reduction of Kw/hour/client in the organization.
Scopes 1 and 2 of the carbon footprint were measured, including the Services Division, which made it possible to have more accurate data on the organization’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
The first environmental evaluation of critical suppliers from the environmental perspective was carried out, specifically those of agricultural inputs, chemicals, tires and fuel.
Refocosta’s outstanding initiative
To obtain certification from Icontec for the Forest Compensation Program that includes the REFOCOSTA plantations in Villanueva and those of Xylom.
Achievements
Certification of carbon credits with 180 tons of CO2-e represented in 1,856 hectares of the Villanueva and Xylom plantations.
This certification allowed the Company to obtain income during 2018 amounting to $1,775 MM. The bonds are commercialized with companies seeking Forest Compensation projects to compensate for their GHG emissions.
Refocosta challenges 2019 – 2020
Regarding carbon credits:
To continue with the certification in the Villanueva and Xylom plantations.
To obtain certification in plantations in La Gloria.
To maintain Refocosta in the carbon market.
Regarding the Waste Management Plan:
To implement crosswise in all the organization’s operations the Waste Management Plan and in this way, accomplish an adequate management and disposition thereof.
The company has complied with the commitments of its Environmental Management Plan, monitoring it on a monthly basis.
In the demolition phase, the organization made an adequate disposal of the rubble.

Achievements
The EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification process was started, which seeks that the project (Hotel and Grand Suites) be designed so that once in operation, it saves at least 20% in electrical and water consumption compared to the baseline set by the Government for this type of buildings and climate conditions. During the operation of the Hotel the respective measurements will be made to guarantee that the programmed savings goals are being met.
